First things first, let’s talk about what kind of video or photography you need. Everyone now knows what a huge role still and especially moving imagery can have on their online presence, but not everyone knows how to go about creating it, or even where to start when it comes to planning what they need. I love to take the time, before even touching a camera, to get to know my clients and find out where their problems lie. If I can really get to the root of your pain points, then I can help you solve that problem! What makes your business tick? What makes you tick? Let’s have a conversation! 

This is actually the fun part of the process. This is where all the knowledge we have gained from diving into your business needs comes to a head. I, or collaboratively, we will come up with the concepts that will help drive your online presence. What are we going to make? Where will it live? How are people going to interact with it? This is where we set out our intentions and start to think about the production.

Now we get to the hands-on stage of the process. All of the hard work that has been put into pre-production is realised. A single camera shoot with me on the camera, through to a fully fledged production utilising a trusted network of professional freelancers at the top of their game will be on site or in the studio with you to turn ideas into concrete output.

The edit is where the crafting of ideas and hard content from the production collide. Thoughtfully and methodically, I will craft the narrative and tell your story, creating the video you had always imagined. This is personally my favourite part of the process. This is where the smallest tweaks can make the biggest differences. I pride myself on being a really great editor. I like to say that an edit is like playing with Lego. Sometimes the parts come together in a free flow of ideas, and you end up with something you hadn’t imagined possible; other times, you stick to the manual, and you make the picture on the front of the box a reality. And when I was a child, I was always taught to share my toys, so as the client, I always welcome your input and feedback. 

Sound design is a huge part of a final film. It’s also something that you shouldn’t really notice. When I create a soundscape for a project, I want the visuals and imagery to seamlessly match up and complement each other. The colour grade is an essential part of the storytelling process. It can direct the eye, wow the viewer, and change the mood of any shot. A lot of the time online, you will hear people banging on about LUTs and filters. Personally, I don’t really go in for these things. Each and every project I manage has been individually colour graded to match the mood of the video. It’s the last and one of the most creatively engaging parts of video post-production. This is when I upload all of the video assets online for your convenient download. Then it’s down to you. If we have worked together on the pre-production, then you should have a great plan in place to go out there and use your videos and wow your audience. Then, when you’re next thinking of another production, we can start the whole process from scratch!
